1. Introduction

The website https://ms-kids.org/ uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to ensure the proper functioning of the site, improve user experience, and, in some cases, obtain statistical information about Site usage.

The purpose of this Cookies Policy is to inform you, clearly and transparently, about what cookies are and how they work, the types of cookies used by the MSKIDS Site, which providers install cookies through the Site, and how you can manage or disable them.

This Policy applies to all users of the Site, regardless of their geographical location, and complies with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the EU ePrivacy Directive, the CCPA/CPRA of California, the LFPDPPP of Mexico, and other applicable regulations in the jurisdictions where MSKIDS operates.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on the user’s device—computer, tablet, or mobile phone—when they access the site. They allow the website to recognize the device on subsequent visits and remember preferences or previous actions.

In addition to cookies in the strict sense, the Site may use similar technologies:

  • Tracking Pixels or Web Beacons: Small invisible images embedded in web pages that record certain browsing behaviors.

  • Local Storage (Local Storage and Session Storage): A browser mechanism to retain data locally on the device.

  • Device Fingerprinting: The approximate identification of the device through its technical characteristics.

Regarding duration, session cookies are automatically deleted when the browser is closed. Persistent cookies, on the other hand, remain on the device for a set period or until the user manually deletes them.

3. Strictly Necessary Cookies (Technical)

These cookies are essential for the basic operation of the Site. Without them, the Site cannot operate correctly. According to applicable regulations, they do not require prior user consent to be installed.

  • WordPress Cookies: The WordPress content management system installs various technical cookies. The wordpress_logged_in cookie identifies authenticated users; wordpress_sec is used for administration area security; wp-settings and wp-settings-time store admin interface preferences. The comment_author and comment_author_email cookies remember author data in comment forms and persist for approximately 347 days. The PHPSESSID cookie maintains the user session during navigation.

  • GoDaddy Cookies: As the web hosting provider, GoDaddy may install cookies related to server infrastructure and security. The market cookie detects the user’s region; fpsid is a session identifier for the hosting infrastructure; auid is an anonymous user identifier for infrastructure optimization. Additionally, GoDaddy may install firewall or WAF (Web Application Firewall) cookies to protect the server against malicious access.

4. Preference and Functionality Cookies

These cookies allow the Site to remember user choices and offer improved features. They require prior user consent.

  • cookie_notice_accepted: Installed by the Site’s cookie notice plugin, it lasts for one year and records the user’s acceptance of the cookie notice.

  • wp-wpml_current_language: If the Site uses a multilingual plugin, this remembers the selected language and lasts for one day.

5. Third-Party Cookies — Google

Due to the integration of Google Forms and the potential future use of Google Analytics, the Site may incorporate cookies from Google LLC servers. Google acts as an independent third party, and its use of cookies is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

  • Google Forms Cookies: When a user accesses a Google Form, Google may install: NID (preferences, 6 months), 1P_JAR (conversion stats, 1 month), CONSENT (consent status, 2 years), SOCS (consent state management, 13 months), AEC (CSRF protection, 6 months), and __Secure-ENID (authentication security, 13 months).

  • Google Analytics Cookies (Potential): If implemented, cookies like _ga (unique users, 2 years), _gid (statistics, 24 hours), and _gat (request rate control, 1 minute) may be present. MSKIDS will implement IP anonymization and enhanced privacy configurations in Google Analytics 4.

6. Payment Processor Cookies (Coming Soon)

When donation functionality is implemented, third-party payment providers will install their own technical security and anti-fraud cookies. These will be detailed in an update to this Policy prior to the system’s activation.

7. Legal Basis for Cookie Use

Technical cookies do not require consent as they are based on MSKIDS’ legitimate interest. Preference, functionality, and third-party cookies are installed only based on the user’s prior, free, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent.

8. Management and Control of Cookies

  • Site Preference Panel: A cookie notice banner allows users to accept or reject non-essential cookies upon their first visit.

  • Browser Settings: Users can manage cookies directly from their browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Opera).

  • Google Opt-Out Tools: Users can manage Google preferences via Google Ads Settings and the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

9. Cookies and Minors

MSKIDS pays special attention to the use of cookies regarding minors. Profiling, behavioral advertising, or invasive analysis cookies are NOT used in relation to minors’ data. Consent tools are designed to be understandable for young users.

10. Updates to the Cookies Policy

This Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in tools, new services, or legislation. The current version will always be available on the Site.
